Our Story

Why Two Step Farm?

Because we’re not just creating a new community, we’re cultivating a new way to live. Where music draws people together. New ideas meet time-honored traditions. And the big spirit, regional pride and welcoming nature of the Lone Star State are woven into every moment.

It will be a new home community in Montgomery, TX, wonderfully unlike any other. We think you’re going to like it here.

Keeping dance hall
history alive

Long before concert venues and honky-tonks, dance halls were the heart of Texas life. Built by German and Czech immigrants in the late 1800s and early 1900s, these halls weren’t just for dancing — they were where communities gathered, celebrated, worshipped and passed down culture through music and movement. At their peak, there were more than 1,000 halls across the state, and today, around 400 still stand: testaments to Texas’ deep musical roots.

At Two Step Farm, we’re honoring that legacy. Two Step Hall is crafted with reclaimed wood, giving old lumber new life and every board a story to tell. But it’s more than a building. It’s a space for concerts, dance lessons and toe-tapping good times. From Western swing to tejano, music is woven into everyday life here, just like it’s always been in the Lone Star State. We’re even doing our part to support Texas Dance Hall Preservation.

WHAT’S WITH
THE GOATS?

The Two Step Farm goats are an important part of our community. They clear the brush, fertilize the land and provide a much-needed daily dose of cuteness. With a free-roaming nature and joyful resilience, they perfectly embody the spirit of Texas. In other words, goats are our spirit animal. Need more? Watch our Goatbreaking Video.

Montgomery, Texas

The birthplace of
the Texas flag

As one of the oldest towns in Texas, Montgomery is a big deal around these parts. But that’s only part of the story. What began as a trading post in 1826 was really put on the map in 1839, when Charles B. Stewart (also the first Texas Secretary of State) designed the Lone Star Flag of Texas here. Today, it’s one of the most well-known — and well-celebrated — symbols of our beloved state.
