MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX

Things to do in Montgomery, Texas (and beyond) after your Two Step Farm tour.

One of the best things about putting down roots at Two Step Farm? There are more things to do in Montgomery, Texas, and the surrounding area than you could shake a stick at. So once you’ve toured the models, grabbed a bite at The Grazery and waved goodbye to the goats, why not get to know the area you just might call home. Here are a few favorites to add to your list.

Lake Conroe Beach Park

Lake Conroe is one of the area’s biggest draws. (And at 22,000 acres it’s plain ol’ big, too.) While you may not be able to experience it all in an afternoon, Lake Conroe Beach Park is a great way to dip your toes in, so to speak. Get a snack at the food truck village, feel the sand on your feet and skip a stone or two over the water. And when you do have a full day to do the lake justice, you could spend it kayaking, fishing, taking a sunset cruise and thinking of names for that boat you’ve been wanting to buy. (May we suggest Goat with the Flow?)

The Woodlands Waterway & Market Street

The Woodlands is a bonafide Montgomery County destination. With everything from farmers markets to disc golf to a children’s museum (and, yes, a ton of trees), it’s a local staple to say the least. Two of our favorite spots to spend some time are The Waterway and Market Street.

The Waterway cuts right through the heart of The Woodlands and ties together restaurants, attractions, green spaces and a whole lot more. While Market Street has corralled 90-plus boutiques and restaurants into an open-air setup that hits the sweet spot between names you know and places you’ll be delighted to discover.

Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

If you time it right, you could (and definitely should) catch a show at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion after your Two Step Farm tour. Also located in The Woodlands, it’s considered one of the great outdoor venues in Texas. Country legends, major acts, the Houston Symphony —even Dolly Parton — have played here under an open sky. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel mighty fine about being a Texan (or becoming one). Check the calendar before you head out and see if the stars align.

Old Town Spring

The Old Town Spring historic district is what you think of when you think small-town Texas main street: walkable, full of character and packed with shops selling antiques, sundries, handmade jewelry, funky art and all kinds of Texas treasures. Duck into a classic diner, find a new hat with your name on it and watch the world go by from a rocking chair.

Historic Downtown Montgomery

Historic Downtown Montgomery is one of the oldest cities in Texas (chartered in 1837) and the birthplace of the beloved Texas flag. Downtown is walkable and full of boutiques, antique shops, local restaurants and wineries with genuine Texas charm. There’s even a self-guided walking tour through the historic buildings for those who want the full picture. It’s a town that’s been here since before Texas was, well, Texas. And it shows.
